She's HERE!

My new baby has arrived. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. This is the start of a grand new adventure.

Life is about to get super sweet!

I think I'll let Skylar name her. I have a feeling about what she'll want to call her.

Now the fun part begins, customizing her to my specifications!!

I also need to get the whole kid seat thing worked out. Luckily Android from the Xtracycle community has provided some excellent plans. I'll see what I can do.

I should have bought a bike trailer I saw the other day off Craigslist. I'll have to keep looking now. If I get the right one I can ride to work even. We'll see!

For the love of biking

I stumbled upon this wonderful little vid today. It made me tear up. What a sap!

I love to see people riding en mass.

Alternative Transportation

As you are well aware, gas is slightly expensive. In seeking to find ways to cut the budget I finally did it. I SOLD my baby. No, not one of those. (Although there are days.) No, I sold the pride of my garage....my mountain bike. I can't believe I did that.

Just a few years ago there was nothing more important in my life than my bike. It's funny how two squirmy, goofy, beautiful children will change your perspective.

Needless to say, I haven't ridden my bike but maybe once in the last three years. So, I felt it was time to say goodbye. But don't think that is the end of the story. It's not. Instead it has already been replaced by a "donor bike" (thanks mom!) and an Xtracycle (aka X). The title photo is a wonderfully beautiful example of an X.

I don't actually have mine yet. It's over at the Bike Smith being built but my anticipation grows with each day that passes. I can hardly wait to ride my new bike. And guess who gets to ride with me? That's right Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Doodle.

I've been researching all sorts of configurations and have finally decided on one that I think will work best for me. It's now a matter of fabrication, modification and personal interpretation. But that will be another post for another day.

The bottom line is my passion for bikes has not left me, just my ability to do it like I used to. So, we make adjustments. This is the start of a grand new adventure for me and my two charges. Hence the name, Bicycle43.

Stay tuned......
